The Interrogation of Ms. Eliza Bednor
"Female serial killers are a fascinating field. We don't have much information on them, but what we do know involves throwing the rules completely out the window."- Dr. Spencer Reid, Criminal Minds Season 4 Episode 16. This short play started as an even shorter play in my high school theatre design class, my sophomore year. Obsessed with Criminal Minds, as every teenager girl secretly is, and having just watched Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, "The Interrogation of Ms. Eliza Bednor" was born! Based on the 1892 axe murder case of Abby and Andrew Borden, I took a "whack" at what the interrogation of the infamous prime suspect might look like, showing what woman is (or might be) capable of. Did she do it or didn't she? Whose to say?
